About PK Syndrome
PK Syndrome: Do You Have It? is a book written by Dr. Melody Thompson based on her personal experience growing up as a pastor’s kid (PK) and interviews with other PKs. It explores the common challenges faced by children in ministry families, the hardships that often go unspoken, and practical strategies for overcoming them.
Through this work, Dr. Melody helps readers understand the impact of growing up in ministry, navigate relational and emotional challenges, and embrace authenticity. Her expanded doctoral research further examines the dynamics of the pastor’s family—including the pastor—and provides guidance for counselors on how to support this unique population.
Future editions and resources will include updated insights, journals, and new materials designed to support PKs, ministry families, and those seeking to understand this unique journey more deeply.
